Caged Animal
Sometimes I think Che feels like a caged animal when he is at home all day. So, Friday I took him to the zoo, along with a few other kids I happen to know. He really enjoyed himself while he was there. Climbing on the statues, chasing the goats, squaking at the chickens, trying to catch butterflies, an waiting for the lions and gorillas to actually move.
The thing is, whenever Che as a new stimulus overload day like the zoo, he tends to cry out at night. While many people would worry that he is having nightmares, I think it is just him dreaming about everything he saw and being a little sad that he isn’t still there.

Mr. Invincible
When Che is at a playground, he likes to pretend he is Mr. Invincible. He will climb up anything, jump from almost anything, and is not afriad to play with the big kids. Looking back at my childhood and what I have heard of my husbands childhood summers, I shouldn’t be surprised. Yes, Che climbed both up and down the ladder pictured below. In fact he did it so fast, I couldn’t even get around the jungle-gym fast enough to stop him.

Mr. Invincible
Halfway torn between pride and terror, I’ve been remembering all the things I did with my brothers and sisters that my mom still doesn’t know about, and wondering whether or not Che will show us all up.

Sunbeams
On Feech’s last night at home, Teo coercied her into playing another song for Che. For some reason they picked Nirvana’s “Jesus Doesn’t Want Me for a Sunbeam”. Based on Che’s reaction, I think he doesn’t like the song very much. I think they would have had a much better reaction from Che if Feech had sung the diametric song “Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam.”
You can judge for yourself.
